U-Pick Fruits
Here at Tug Hill Estate, we grow raspberries (red and black), blueberries, grapes and apples. Below is a chart outlining our picking schedule and pricing for the year. Fruit ripeness and volume are largely dependent on the weather, however, so the picking schedule may be slightly off from year to year.
We update picking conditions daily, usually around 9 am, with a 1-5 scale (1 being not so great, to 5 being super great). We will also try to remember to indicate if weather has impacted conditions at any point. If fruit is pretty well finished or not ready, we will mark it with a 0.

How does U-Pick work at Tug Hill Estate?
-
Once you arrive at Tug Hill Estate, please find your way to our small, U-pick shed by following the posted signs. It is on the opposite side of the property from the main building. You are welcome to bring your own containers, or we provide pulp berry tills for you to pick into, free of charge. Please follow the directions posted in the U-pick shed for weighing your containers, calculating totals, and payment options.
-
Our U-pick shed is equipped for anyone wishing to take advantage of cooler morning or evening hours for picking by using our self-serve option. All easy-to-follow directions are posted at the U-pick shed. You may wish to bring your own containers, or you may use the pulp berry baskets at the shed. Please keep in mind that you may begin picking as early or as late as you would like, but the self-serve option is cash or check only. If you need to use a card, you will need to pick during Vintner’s Lounge operating hours. Blueberries and Raspberries are located across the driveway from the U-pick shed, while grapes and apples are closer to the Main Building.
-
If you are taking advantage of the self-serve option, you can deposit your payment (cash or check only) into the drawer on the counter. We do accept cards as payment; however, those payments will need to be made in the Vintner’s Lounge during our operating hours. You may weigh your berries ahead of time and bring in a total, or weigh them in the store. If you are planning to pay in the Vintner’s Lounge, consider staying for lunch, a Slushie, or a glass of wine.

Before venturing to the U-pick fields, consider bringing water, good walking shoes, a hat with a visor and/or sunscreen. The fields themselves are in direct sunlight, and being prepared can help make your experience a little more pleasant. You may also want to consider bug spray. Try as we may, we can’t prevent nature from making its way onto our property. While we do regular inspections of the property, it is possible for us to miss bee/wasp nests, as these critters can build almost anywhere.
If you ever experience an issue while picking, please make your way to the Vintner’s Lounge and tell an employee. Please remember to keep children from getting too close to the vineyard dogs as they are NOT PETS! Also, use caution when bringing small dogs into the U-pick areas. Our dogs have mistaken small dogs for pests in the past, and we absolutely do not want anyone’s pet (or child) getting hurt. Thank you.
Just a quick note to say that as much as we may want to, we do not control the weather, and have very little control over nature in our rural space.
