Relaxed & Rustic
Farm Winery. Distillery. Cidery.
When Jon and Taren Beller purchased Tug Hill Vineyards in 2021, they had one goal: take a 40-acre property with one perceived purpose, and turn it into a destination where anyone can find something to enjoy.
It started with a name change, and a re-branding. Tug Hill Estate had a more approachable, well-rounded ring to it. Here, at Tug Hill Estate, we pride ourselves on creating welcoming experiences for all who visit; and, highlighting our property and our people, versus just one aspect of our business seemed like a logical move. While we do continue to make quality wines, spirits and ciders, it’s most definitely not all we do here. We offer tasting experiences, delicious casual dining experiences (such as Sunday Brunch, Wine Down, or our all-day menu available in the Vintner’s Lounge), special occasion fine dining experiences (like Food & Wine Pairing Dinners), learning opportunities (like our Food & Wine Pairing Classes or local talent bringing their expertise to the Estate), relaxation opportunities with a beautiful view of the Black River Valley, U-pick fruits (in the summer), and a beautiful venue for celebrating and gathering for all kinds of reasons!
Supporting local is, also, very important to us! On our menus, guests will find locally produced meats, breads, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, jams, vegetables (in-season), and Estate-produced fruits, wherever we can fit them in. On the Estate, we grow blueberries, raspberries, apples, and approximately 80% of all the grapes we need to make our selections of wines. We also support talented, local musicians by opening up our Thursday nights for live music throughout much of the year.
Tug Hill Estate is open year-round! So, if you like wine, you like food, or you just like to hang out, stop in! We’d love to see you! And if you can, follow us on Facebook and Instagram @tughillestate.

The Big Questions we get asked almost daily:
Is the Estate handicap accessible?
The Vintner’s Lounge, the Main Hall, the Great Lawn, and the Terrace are all handicap accessible on their own. Getting from one to the other does require going outside and around the buildings to access them, but they are smooth entry and exit. We do not have an elevator on the premises, which does mean our loft area is not accessible.
Can we use the property to take photos?
Each year, many photographers use our grounds to take photos of their clients, at no charge. We do require that photographers, or their clients, contact us to let us know when they would like to come and take photos. We have many events (private and public) scheduled throughout the year, and we want to make sure that photo sessions aren’t going to be an interruption to, or get interrupted by, things happening here. We also like to know who is on the property and when, as anyone would.
Vineyard Dogs and Pet Policy Questions Answered
We have two working dogs who live on the property named Bailey (4 years old) & Cooper (3 years old). They are Walker Coonhound X Golden Retriever crosses; and, they are full siblings from two different litters. They spend their days and nights within an invisible fence around the property, stopping all animals that could potentially be destructive to the grapevines and fruits from being in the fields. While they are generally friendly, and are usually very sweet, THEY ARE NOT PETS! We ask that you do not touch them. Ignoring them completely is best (even though it’s super hard!).
OUR PET POLICY is as follows: Pets are most definitely allowed on the property, but they are not permitted inside the buildings. Pets must stay outside and MUST be leashed. Please use your best judgement when approaching our vineyard dogs with your pet.
Service animals are welcome anywhere their people need to go.
